Remote Alps

Remote Alps is a control board dedicated to controlling Alps motorized potentiometer. Besides controlling motor direction, the Remote Alps also controls four relays for input selector.

Additional relay control is intended for the Stand By relay which can be used for turning on or off a power transformer. Each relay controller is equiped with one LED which is lit when its relay is ON. Power LED indicates the state of the Stand By relay, while Stand By LED is lit when the device is powered down. Finally, the Motor LED blinks twice per second if the motor is moving, otherwise it is permanently lit which makes it perfect for installing it inside a potentiometer knob.

Input selection can be done by a remote controller or by pressing the keys Prev/Next. All the same, the device can be powered up or down by a remote controller or by a Power key.

All keys on the board are active on logic zero and hardware debouncing circuit prevents false key activation. All transistors which control relays are protected with a diode. Relay voltages can vary from 5 to 24V with maximum current of 100mA per relay.

Finally, the Remote Alps features a protection circuit which controls the current of the Alps motor. In case the current exceeds limits, the device will turn off the motor, thus saving the output transistors.

All connectors on the board are aligned to the edge of the board for easier access. Remote controller decoder is programmed to detect standard Philips RC5 code and covers a wide range of remote controllers available including universal ones.
